Our Guides

Ellen Terrell

Ellen, grew up in the country and says some of her earliest memories are of riding around on her father's shoulders on bushwalks. She fell in love with the rainforest while sailing and working in New Guinea and the south-west Pacific area, including the Louisiade Archipeligo, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, New Hebrides and Noumea.

She now lives and works in the Daintree area of Tropical North Queensland and combines her love of the rainforest with a mix of tour guiding for AWT, wildlife rescue and part-time ranger for Parks and Wildlife Service.

Her interest in rainforest ecology has led to botanical studies and the production of realistic rainforest seeds, crafted in porcelain and bronze, used in Wet Tropics, National Parks, CSIRO and Skyrail interpretive centres. Her work as a ranger includes interpretive work, research, and compilation of information for bird lists and track notes.

She recently completed research on extensive information for "A Handbook for Tour Guides - Daintree River to Cape Tribulation", published by the Wet Tropics Management Authority. As well Ellen has spent much time in the Atherton and Evelyn Tablelands area birding and is an excellent birder for our North Queensland product.
